FC Drury have been awarded £150 by Essex FA towards training equipment

Following a nomination by the Colchester & District Sunday League, FC Drury has received an award of £150 towards training equipment from Essex FA.

As part of County’s annual awards, the Drury, whose two sides were recently promoted to Divisions 3 and 4 respectively of the Colchester & District Sunday League, were the Third Placed club in the 2007/8 Sunday Open-Age Fair Play Awards.

While the award reflects the astonishing feat of the Reserves not picking up a single yellow or red card last season, the behaviour of the club as a whole was taken into consideration, and follows the Chairman of the League’s “Harbour” Award the Positive Parrots received at the League AGM.

Secretary Steve Tovey was on hand to add: “I’m honoured on behalf of the club, and would like to thank the League board for the nomination, in particular Chairman Alf Banner, who has always been extremely supportive of what we’re trying to achieve on and off the field as a club.

“I hope we can continue to grow as a club, building on last years’ successful season and achieve even better results on the pitch while maintaining an emphasis on sportsmanship and correct sporting behaviour.”
