Dazza leaves FC Drury

First team manager Darren Allen has resigned his post for personal reasons.

Having masterminded the most successful season in FC Drury’s history, first team manager Darren Allen has left the club for personal reasons.

The split was entirely amicable, with Darren making the decision two weeks before the club’s first pre-season match, giving the club time to address the situation and find a suitable replacement.

Allen led the side to a club record 14 match winning run during the 2007/8 season as well as marching on to the Semi-Final of the Essex Junior Trophy, a competition the side had not previously even won a match in. Daz was also responsible for a vast improvement in training attitudes, application and methods.

Darren will focus on playing in the 2008/9 season, continuing his allegiance with Border League side Rowhedge, while it is understood he is training with Bayern Monkwick with a view to signing on for them on Sundays.

Club Secretary Steve Tovey commented: “We are all extremely grateful for everything Darren has done for the club. On top of all the commitment and effort he put in, he also achieved results and improved playing standards both in terms of personnel and also match day performance to push the team on to become a strong Sunday league side. He will be missed as a player and a manager and just to have him around, and the door is always open for him to return either as a player or a manager.

“We wish him well in everything he does.”
