Darren took over the running of first team affairs midway through the 2005/06 season after Barry Pryer resigned due to other commitments.

Dazza was first introduced to the club back in 2003, when he was roped into playing for the fledgling CUMFC (Col Utd Messageboard FC) side against another Colchester United fan team in the shape of CUIFC (Col Utd Internet FC).

It was during this time Dazza continued to train with the club, but he didn’t sign up and stayed with his side at the time Northgate Athletic in the old Division 1. We would have to wait a few years before the self proclaimed “Adonis” graced the club again, and in 2005 he returned to Blue Boar as player coach.

The old man slipped straight into a midfield berth, and added another level to the Blue Boar. Despite his efforts, Blue Boar fell just short of promotion in what was to prove to be a disappointing season for the club.

The following season, the club added a reserve team to its ranks. In the reshuffle, Dazza joined Bazza as his assistant, whist the reserves saw a return to management for Steev Tovey with Matt Tomlin taking the assistant’s role there.

In the switch of management, Darren guided the Boars to within an inch of the playoffs, only to fall just short in what was to be a disappointing season for the club.

In his first full season in charge however, Dazza has changed the professionalism of the side in no time at all. A tough trainer, Dazza’s training sessions are always improving squad fitness and each week seems to getting more and more from the players. During the pre season Community Cup, FC Drury were unlucky not win the trophy after claiming some huge scalps in the run in, only to be beaten to the trophy on the last game by Bayern Monkwick 4-2.

Dazza leads the first team into the race for Division 4 with the clear aim of winning some silverware this year and will be looking to take the club up yet another level.
